Description

This course introduces the foundations of modern VLSI electronic design automation (EDA), with a focus on optimization and algorithm foundations for VLSI physical design problems. Each lecture will introduce one design stage, including design objectives, problem definitions, and typical methodologies (with preliminaries). We will see a set of concrete applications of various conventional optimization techniques in VLSI design, e.g., graph theory, convex optimization, numerical optimization, machine learning, etc. Guest lecturer(s) from academia and industry will be invited to provide practical views and supplementary insights.
